You purchased your first AR either for fun or to be a responsible person, but now what? This course will lead you through the fundamentals of using and maintaining your rifle so that you and your AR are ready for a day at the range or for more training in defensive tactics.

This 8 hour course covers the basics: Mindset, Use of Force, Self-defense considerations, Gun safety, Loading/Unloading, Shooting positions (standing, moving, prone, from cover/concealment), Reloading & malfunctions, Gun manipulation, Gun maintenance, Optics, Accessories, Zeroing, and Cleaning.

Classroom time includes introduction to Situational Awareness, 5 Legal Pillars of Self Defense, South Dakota Codified Law regarding Use of Force, the 4 Universal Firearms Safety Rules, the Foundation of Handgun Skills, and Tactical Medical.

Range time includes review of the Foundation of Handgun Skills and 100 rounds Live Fire Drills.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive the necessary certification to apply for the South Dakota Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit.
